I know I am going to come off as a hater or somebody who’s a broken record when it comes to a particular game, but hear me out. Recently, I installed Grand Theft Auto V on my Series X. I started the game up. Now, before I continue, if this is your first time reading some of my work and understanding my taste in games, I have quite a huge dislike for the Grand Theft Auto series, but I respect and understand players who enjoy the series.
For me, when I started GTA V, it brought up the idea that certain games will just bring up the memory and reason you dislike a series or some of the games in that series. Now, you might be wondering, “then why are you playing it?” That is a fair and honest question. I wanted to experience what I miss in this game and remind myself why I dislike it so much.

In video games, we all probably have some games we just don’t like. It could be for gameplay being broken, story beats that don’t pay off, or something being off or offensive. Video games are a creative form of art and entertainment. We love that developers who come together to make a game have the ability to express their ideas. They might not have control over the reaction when the video game is released, but they can take a look at the feedback of what people dislike about that project and try to improve on the next work if given a chance.
My dislike for the series is broken gameplay, paint-by-the-number plot moments, forgettable storylines, and the fact that no improvements have happened in the series besides the shooting aspect. I’ve beaten GTA V on the PS3 and was really annoyed with the game, but I persisted in finishing the game. I remember quickly uninstalling this game and even wrote a sarcastic and shady review for the game for review a bad game day back in the 2010’s (way before Boss Rush Network started and before I met Corey).

Video games can do that. Though, as the player, our taste in gaming can change, and we go back and try to finish those disliked games and maybe see a different vision. Maybe not, but fairness should be given to games. Unless it’s fully broken and unavailable, then have at it.
As for me and my replay of Grand Theft Auto V, I remember the first dislike coming to play, and that’s the terrible controls for the driving. It’s the first mission after the cold open and credits, and I couldn’t keep the car straight. In fact, when I did the same mission on PS3, I hit a bump, and my car exploded, and I just started the mission!!! I know this game will bring up memories, and hopefully, some of the game will change my mind. If not, I will uninstall it and keep my opinion about the game.

Yes, I will be buying Grand Theft Auto VI. I want to see what changes were made, and could this be the one I enjoy in the series?
And by the way, I love Game Radio in Grand Theft Auto III. That’s how I learned about Royce Da 5’9”.
Have you felt the same way about a game, and you’ve returned to it to see it through, and if you still have an opinion about it? Let us know in the comments or in our Discord.
