HoYoverse showcased Genshin Impact’s newest characters to come in the upcoming region of Snezhnaya, and they look amazing! I have had high hopes for this region with the storytelling and foreshadowing of Nodkrai’s storyline. The teasers players have been receiving have only been increasing that excitement.
There were a few characters that really stood out to me.

The first was the character who seemed to get the most screen time, Vodyanitsa. She looks to be of fey descent almost akin to a mermaid or siren. With her being attended to during the trailer, she either has a high position or it is because she appears on stage and is an opera singer. In a way, she reminds me of Kokomi as a character with a softer voice but a firm disposition.

I particularly loved Odette’s design for the sole fact that when it comes to the arts, ballet is usually what pops into people’s heads when associated with Russia which largely inspired Snezhnaya. It made perfect sense to me to have a character embodying this art form with even her name paying due as a character from the Swan Lake. It also makes me think that her character will be a trickster, someone with disguises and masks similar to Odette in the play.

Another character I could not help but gasp at was Noy. He genuinely has a beautiful design that makes me think of a vampire. Aside from being beautiful though, I also noticed a peculiar detail about him – he has a star design on his neck. Now, this might not stand out ordinarily but the design is very reminiscent to the introduction players get when Asmoday first appears before the twins when the game is first booted up. Is it possible he has some connection to this shade? At first, he was a character who simply looked beautiful but at second glance, I immediately had so many questions about who he was and what possible connections he may have to other known characters.

And of course, I cannot forget Anastasya Feodorovna Snezhnaya herself, the game’s beloved Cryo Archon. She reminds me of an elven queen, one whose dominion is over ice. It very much matches as Snezhnaya is known as the region of eternal ice while also the land where the fey roam. It’s also intriguing to see her earlier design, what presumably is her past self, versus her current one. Her past design looks younger, feels more like a princess than a queen. It feels softer compared to the coldness of her current design. This perfectly aligns with what players know about her story so far in that she is an Archon who lost love for the world.

Genshin Impact‘s “Sudden Snow” trailer was such a well-made trailer that really made me excited for the coming region. I have so many questions about certain voice lines and character designs that it makes me want summer to end quickly just so I can find these answers.
What are your thoughts about the character designs showcased in “Sudden Snow?” Is there any particular character that made you excited or want to know more about? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below or in our Boss Rush Discord!
