HoYoverse just released their newest trailer, “Sudden Snow,” to showcase Snezhnaya’s coming characters for Genshin Impact. There were many character reveals that were completely unknown to the playerbase or long hyped for.
However, what was most exciting, is the character reveal for the Tsaritsa. The Tsaritsa is the game’s Cryo Archon, the one who the Fatui swore loyalty to, and the ruler of Snezhnaya. She has been fighting a long battle against the nations all in the hopes of defying the Heavenly Principles.
She has been a shadowed figure for the duration of the game but “Sudden Snow” has revealed her! Anastasya Feodorovna Snezhnaya is one of the listed characters of this trailer and is the one character highlighted using the Cryo Gnosis.
She looks every part of what I could have imagined as a player for what the Cryo Archon would look like. She looks regal and cold, a person of poise.
The trailer also hinted at her having a child prior or perhaps an adopted one that she lost. The child’s death could have been by her own hands seeing as how merely touching the child in the trailer covers him in ice. This is one of her abilities that players know of to be possible as La Signora’s casket gets sealed in never-melting ice from the Tsaritsa’s power.
From the trailer, it’s likely that the Tsaritsa will try to defeat the Shades the Heavenly Principles put in place before going against Celestia itself. She’s seen facing off against Ronova, preparing for battle in the trailer. She’s also seen playing chess using the different Gnosis she’s collected against Rhinedottr who has merged with a Shade. The only shade left out is Istaroth and the missing fourth Shade.
It is exciting to think about how Genshin Impact’s story is finally coming to its culmination. What exactly is the Tsaritsa’s plan? Why does she despise the Heavenly Principles so much? There are so many questions left in the storyline that players need answers to. This trailer is only further making players excited for the coming of Snezhnaya later this year.
