During Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed a brand new Switch 2 exclusive horror title coming from Bloober Team, the developers behind Silent Hill 2 Remake, Layers of Fear, and Cronos: The New Dawn.
Titled Onyx: The Dark Grip, the supernatural horror game is already shaping up to be one of the most unique titles in recent memory based on both concept and gameplay.
Players take on dual roles as both a man named Holden–who has been beckoned into a vacant, snow-covered town–and a mysterious “Entity” that guides him from the beyond.
Onyx is playable only in handheld mode, which is a rarity for the Nintendo Switch family of consoles. This is because players will use the Switch 2’s touchscreen controls to manipulate the environment and fight off enemies as “the Entity” and to ensure Holden survives his frightening journey.
Gamers must be careful though to not interfere too much with Holden’s reality, as he will slip further into madness the more he is aware of the Entity’s ever looming presence.
Fans can expect to pick up a copy of Onyx: The Dark Grip exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 next year.
