Speculation: Monolift Soft Hiring New Staff Members–Will Breath of the Wild Gain More Support?

Nintendo has teamed up with Monolift Soft in the past to spearhead the development of the Xenoblade series, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. On Tuesday 4/27, Monolift Soft had announced on Facebook that they’re hiring six new positions at their Kyoto studio, which means Monolift has been looking to hire almost 40 new staff members in the last year. More interestingly, their website has a page dedicated for hiring staff to work on the upcoming Zelda game, Breath of the Wild 2.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was originally announced in the Nintendo Direct during E3 in 2019. During a Kotaku interview, Zelda director Eiji Aonuma had stated that Breath of the Wild 2 is getting a sequel because they had so many DLC ideas from the original.

Initially we were thinking of just DLC ideas, but then we had a lot of ideas and we said, “This is too many ideas, let’s just make one new game and start from scratch.”

With the vastly open worlds in the Xenoblade series and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I can imagine that this will be Monolift Soft’s largest project yet. Do you think that these hiring ads are directly connected to the production of Breath of the Wild 2? Let us know in the comments or on our Discord!
