The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD News: New Amiibo with Zelda and Her Loftwing is Announced

Zelda fans rejoice!

As the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Nintendo Switch draws near, news has dropped that there will be an adorable new amiibo released the same day.

This amiibo is Zelda with her Loftwing, and the video clip released by Nintendo shows its incredibly useful mechanic: you can travel to and from the skies and surface at will, making traversal easier and more accessible. In the original game, Link could only travel between Skyloft and the surface when he reached statues dotted throughout the landscape. Not only does it make travel more convenient, but you can return to the very spot you left from–even from within dungeons! It has a little bit of a Farore’s Wind feel from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time but with much better utility.

Nintendo has given eager fans lots to look forward to. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, which is available for pre-order, comes out July 16th, as well as a themed Joy-Cons and now this amazing, new amiibo (sold separately).
