Welcome to another weekly installment of MLB Power Rankings from bossrush.net! Logan is currently torn on if he should buy a Yankees jersey for Rizzo, or a Giants jersey for Bryant, so I, Dan will be filling in for him. Last week when we had updated the power rankings, Nelson Cruz had just been traded to the Rays, but since then, there’s been about 10 more big deals that could shake up the MLB entirely. However, let’s not look into the future, let’s look at this past week.

1. San Francisco Giants (-)

People are still not believers in the Giants right now, but maybe after taking 2 of 3 in their last two series vs the Dodgers, they may win some people over. Their offense is currently top 5 for OPS and HR, and their pitching is top 5 for ERA, WHIP, BAA, and shut outs. There’s no reason to think that they’ll slow down at any point.

2. Boston Red Sox (-)

Boston has been a force in the AL, however, their starting pitching is starting to look shaky, so having Chris Sale come back might put a jolt back into that rotation. They didn’t address their starting pitching at the deadline, but they picked up a big bat in Kyle Schwarber, who will likely fill the void at first base.

3. Houston Astros (+2)

Astros continue to just win win win. They addressed their issues in the bullpen by trading for Cleveland’s Phil Maton and Oakland’s Kendal Graveman. Their outfield still feels a little thin though,

4. Milwaukee Brewers (+3)

Don’t look now, but the Brew Crew are 20 games over .500, and 21-9 in their last 30 games. Their pitching has been on another level with the best BAA and 2nd for K’s. Once Yelich heats up, look out NL.

5. Chicago White Sox (-2)

White Sox are looking for a bounce back after dropping 3 of 4 to the Royals. They acquired Cesar Hernandez from the Indians and Craig Kimbrel from the Cubs.

6. Tampa Bay Rays (-)

7. Los Angeles Dodgers (-3)

This may seem low for a team that’s 62-42, however, they’re 4-8 in their last 12, and seem like they’re just going through the motions right now. This will probably be the lowest we’ll see them in the power rankings, even more so now that they’ve acquired Max Scherzer and Trea Turner from the Nations.

8. San Diego Padres (-)

Dinelson Lamet will be coming back from injury soon as a reliever for the #1 bullpen in all of baseball. The Padres sat back and watched as the Dodgers loaded up, but this won’t be an issue for Tatis Jr, who will continue to be the star of the NL West.

9. Oakland A’s (-)

10. Seattle Mariners (+2)

Mariners made a few questionable trades during the deadline, but they continue to win. There’s a lot of young talent on this roster that is giving the city of Seattle something to root for.

11. New York Mets (-1)

The NL East is an absolute dumpster fire. The Nationals just sold everyone, the Marlins are kind of just there, the Braves have fallen on tough luck, and the Phillies are probably blowing a save as you read this, Mets picked up Baez for help on the infield to bolster their lineup.

12. New York Yankees (-1)

Yankees starting rotation is a mess, so they trade for Gallo and Rizzo at the deadline. Good job. If the Yankees can’t figure out how to beat their division opponents, they’re going to miss the playoffs.

13. Toronto Blue Jays (-)

14. Cincinnati Reds (+1)

Reds were not sellers at the deadline. They’re quietly over .500 and 5 games back of the Padres for the wild card. They’re top 10 in every offensive category, but bottom 10 in almost every category as well.

15. Cleveland Indians (-1)

16. St. Louis Cardinals (-)

17. Philadelphia Phillies (+2)

Philadelphia is trying to address their pitching woes by acquiring starter Kyle Gibson, and reliable relieve Ian Kennedy. It’s safe to say that the Phillies could have 10 more wins this season with a better bullpen, so let’s see if a few of these moves help them down the stretch.

18. Atlanta Braves (-1)

19. Los Angeles Angels (-1)

20. Detroit Tigers (+1)

The Tigers are a few years away from being contenders, but they’re putting together a nice little season after a horrid start. Since starting 9-24 (On pace to have their worst season since the Jeremy Bonderman and Mike Maroth era) they have been 41-31.

21. Chicago Cubs (-1)

Thoughts and prayers for Logan and Cubs nation. One like = one player traded. Cubs are 4-8 in their last 12, and just sold the following players to contenders: Rizzo, Bryant, Kimbrel, and Baez. All jokes aside, these players meant a lot to their city and fans by bringing home a title in 2016 and breaking the curse. It was sad to see them go.

22. Colorado Rockies (+1)

“Please for the love of God trade Trevor Story to the Yankees” was the exact quote from Logan last week. Spoiler alert: He did not get traded to the Yankees.

23. Washington Nations (-1)

This will probably be the highest they’ll be in the rankings for the rest of the season now that they’ve traded Turner, Scherzer, Schwarber, and Hand, while Strasberg is likely to end his season.

24. Miami Marlins (-)

25. Kansas City Royals (+1)

Salvador Perez is absolutely killing it for my fantasy team.

26. Minnesota Twins (-1)

27. Pittsburgh Pirates (-)

28. Texas Rangers (-)

29. Baltimore Orioles (-)

Baltimore not selling seemed a bit surprising. They do seem to be a few years away from contending, so a guy like Mancini or Santander could have done well for a contender.

30. Arizona Diamondbacks (-)
