Welcome back for yet another week of BRN Power Rankings! This week we saw the Yankees and White Sox play an incredible game in Iowa at the Field of Dreams, the Red Sox continue to lose to division rivals, and the (dumpster fire which is looking to soon be a simple garbage can fire) NL East get tighter in the standings. Let’s get into our week!

1. San Francisco Giants (-)

Leading the Charge in teams I didn’t expect at the top is the Giants. They have the second best run differential in the league at +143, and a stellar 38-17 record at home. If they keep going at this pace I’m going to run out of things to say about them.

2. Tampa Bay Rays (+2)

The Rays are quietly one of the best teams in the league yet again. In their remaining 15 series, 7 are against division opponents. In the last two weeks they’ve gone 5-1 against the slumping Red Sox, and 2-1 against the surging Yankees. Right now it’s their division to lose.

3. Milwaukee Brewers (-)

On Tuesday night, reliever Miguel Sanchez got his first career win as a major leaguer against the Cubs — he threw only one pitch to get the W.

4. LA Dodgers (+1)

5. Chicago White Sox (+1)

White Sox have been absolutely rolling teams like the Indians and Cubs lately, their next 4 series are against the Yankees, A’s, Rays, and Blue Jays. In two weeks we’ll really know what the White Sox are made of.

6. Houston Astros (-4)

Houston on the other hand, has not been rolling easy teams, dropping 2 of 3 to the Rockies. All eyes are on Carlos Correa down the stretch, as he’s becoming a free agent this summer. Down in their minor leagues Pedro Leon has been moved from CF to SS anticipating Correa’s departure.

7. Oakland A’s (+1)

8. San Diego Padres (+1)

Tatis Jr couldn’t have picked a better time to be on the DL as the Padres 4 series in his departure is the Damondbacks (x2), Rockies, and Marlins.

9. Boston Red Sox (-2)

Oh, Red Sox, what happened to you? 2-11 in your last 13, and worst of all you’re 1-9 against the Jays and Rays in that stretch. Not only is your offense slumping, but your starting pitching is fading, even your bullpen is bad. Chris Sale and Kyle Schwarber both make their 2021 Red Sox debut this week, let’s see if that puts a jolt back in to their season.

10. Toronto Blue Jays (-)

After an incredible first two games as a Blue Jay, Jose Berrios got hit around by the Angles, and Brad Hand has had a difficult time in the pen. Also, after playing a home game at Angel Stadium this week, the Blue Jays have set a record by playing a home game in 4 different stadiums: TD Ballbark (FL), Sahlen Field (NY), Rogers Center (Tor), and Angel Stadium (CA)

11. New York Yankees (-)

Anthony Rizzo now has COVID, which leads me to ask, is licking doorknobs a clubhouse ritual in the Bronx? No other team has dealt with so many COVID issues this season.

12. Cincinnati Reds (-)

Joey Votto’s 14 home runs in the last 19 games are the most by a Reds player in any 19-game span, he now has 26 home runs on the season even after missing over a month with a broken thumb.

13. Philadelphia Phillies (+2)

Phillies are 8-2 in their last 10 games, and swept division rival Mets in that span. They now have sole possession of first place in the NL East, and are looking good at the right time of the season.

14. Seattle Mariners (-)

15. Atlanta Braves (+1)

All of the Braves questionable deadline deals are making the Braves look like a pretty good team right now. The NL East is still a dumpster fire, but it’s going to be fun to see who wins.

16. New York Mets (-3)

17. Detroit Tigers (+1)

COME ON TIGERS, EVERY WEEK YOU’RE CLOSER TO .500!!

18. St. Louis Cardinals (+1)

19. Los Angeles Angels (-1)

Angels pitching woes continue. Dylan Bundy has been put back into the rotation boasting a robust 7.00 ERA. They seem to be in no rush to bring Mike Trout back either.

20. Cleveland Indians (-)

Easily the most boring team in baseball. The only thing that could make them more boring is changing their name to the Guardians.

21. Colorado Rockies (-)

22. Minnesota Twins (+4)

These bottom ten teams are all so bad right now, I gave the Twins this nod, because they’re the only ones in the bottom 20 who have a winning record (6-4) in their last 10 games.

23. Kansas City Royals (-1)

Salvador Perez is still killing it for my fantasy team, just in case you were curious.

24. Miami Marlins (+1)

25. Texas Rangers (+2)

26. Washington Nationals (-3)

27. Chicago Cubs (-3)

If you’re a gambler, fade the Cubs every game. The way the Nationals and Cubs sold their soul at the deadline makes me wish that there was relegation in baseball, these two teams are an absolute embarrassment.
