Age of Empires IV was a bona fide hit when it hit PC and PC Game Pass in 2021. Fans praised the RTS for its AoE II influences while taking the franchise to the next level.

As great as Age of Empires IV was received on PC, console players have been asking when a port would make its way to the Xbox. Other titles thought to be PC-only or PC-first like Halo Wars, Gears Tactics, Flight Simulator, and Wasteland have all made very successful transitions to console.
It seems that Microsoft has been listening to community feedback, as Twitter user @ALumua_Italia, an account who follows the Xbox ecosystem pretty closely, discovered a tag in the Insider Hub for Xbox Insider’s Program named Cardinal. For those unaware, Cardinal was the internal codename for Age of Emires IV at World’s End and Relic, the co-developers of the game. Although there is no other indication that the game will make its way to Xbox, it does seem more likely a “when” than an “if” at this point.
Would you play Age of Empires IV on console? What do you think they would change to adapt it to a gamepad? Let us know in our Discord or Facebook group!
