Returnal Takes Home Best Game at the BAFTA Games Awards

Housemarque’s PlayStation 5 exclusive title Returnal won big at the recent BAFTA Game Awards taking home the Best Game award. Returnal found itself in the running against Forza Horizon 5, Deathloop, It Takes Two, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Inscryption to bring home the gold.

That wasn’t the only award for Returnal though. Housemarque’s well-received roguelike shooter also won awards for Audio Achievement, Music, and Performer In A Leading Role. Performer In A Leading Role was awarded to Jane Perry who voiced the role of Returnal’s lead character Selene Vassos.

Sony would also have more to celebrate as Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart would also win awards for Animation and Technical Achievement. It Takes Two, which has been the darling title during the current awards cycle, would receive awards for Multiplayer and Original Property, while Indie title and Unpacking received awards for Narrative and EE Game of the Year (the only award voted for by the public).

  • Game Design – Inscryption
  • Multiplayer – It Takes Two
  • Music – Returnal
  • Narrative – Unpacking
  • Original Property – It Takes Two
  • Performer in a Leading Role – Jane Perry (Returnal)
  • Performer in a Supporting Role – Kimberly Brooks (Psychonauts 2)
  • Technical Achievement – Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • EE Game of the Year – Unpacking

Last month, Housemarque released Ascension, the feature update to Returnal which added the new survival mode Tower of Sisyphus and offered players an endless mode that has them battling their way to the top of the tower. Co-op support was also added to the game in the totally free update to Returnal.
