Fans of physical copies of video games have all heard of Limited Run and are very familiar with their slogan, Forever Physical. Following their grand opening of their brick-and-mortar store in North Carolina on April 30th, Limited Run brought the heat with a trailer-filled showcase on June 6th, 2022.
Limited Run streamed on Twitch, opening with a montage of their store’s grand opening, followed by a quirky, tongue-in-cheek “mission” to recover trailers on floppy discs.
Several trailers boasted of their relationships with WayForward, LucasFilm Games, and KONAMI with titles such as River City Girls 2, A Boy and His Blob, Shantae, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, and Konami Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection.
There was a heavy emphasis on reviving classic games and a few FMVs such as Night Trap, Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties, and American Hero. There were also a few fan favorites like Glover, a Blossom Tales sequel (Blossom Tales II: The Minotaur King), Garden Story, Doom 64, Doom Eternal, Tetris Effect: Connected, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. The trailers kept coming, providing options for every kind of gamer.
Limited Run has made key investments in their Carbon Engine emulation tool and partnerships with other companies to ensure the legacy of retro games lives on. For the full list of their announced games and release information, check out Limited Run’s Blog.
