Like the Final Fanstasy series, it looks like the Last of Us‘ title is something of a lie. As part of Naughty Dog’s participation in Summer Game Fest, the developer’s co-president, Neil Druckmann, took the stage to update fans on three The Last of Us projects currently in development.
The first is a standalone multiplayer game set in the world of The Last of Us. Druckmann was light with detail, but did share a couple of production stills. He also commented that the game will have its own story and be as big as the two mainline games in terms of content.

The second is the television show based on the original game. Again, details were light, but Druckmann claims the show “is something special,” and “is the most authentic video game adaptation yet.” He also brought the game series’ vocal leads, Troy Baker (Joel) and Ashley Johnson (Ellie), on stage to talk briefly about the TV show. Their work on the game being so crucial to its quality, Naughty Dog made sure they were included in the cast of the TV show, despite their characters being played on TV by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. News on when The Last of Us TV series will be released is apparently very close.
Finally, speaking of the first game, the original The Last of Us has been announced as being completely rebuilt for modern platforms. And its close! It will be released on September 22 as The Last of Us Part I. Going hand-in-hand with this is news that it will release for PC as well.
