ICYMI: Silent Hill Transmission

3–4 minutes

October 19th, 2022

Silent Hill fans have been hurting for new content for years, and constant rumors about potential remakes and projects provided nothing but a tease. However, their dreams came true on a fifty-minute showcase titled Silent Hill Transmission, on Wednesday, October 19th. Konami producer Motoi Okamoto and Selina, pro horror gamer, guided us through the presentation, providing commentary throughout five major announcements.

You hear that? Five. Let’s get to it.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Before Motoi and Selina even appeared, Silent Hill Transmission opened with a heart-pounding trailer:

Konami

Bloober Team’s name has been thrown around for years in the rumor mill as a potential developer working on the next generation of Silent Hill, and it has been confirmed that they are remaking Silent Hill 2. The developer is working from the ground up to tell the story of James Sunderland searching for his wife in the ever-shrouded-in-mist Silent Hill. They are also collaborating with composer Akira Yamaoka and artist Masahiro Ito–original team members of the Silent Hill franchise. With all the hype surrounding this remake, we do not have a release date. What we do know is that it will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Silent Hill: Townfall

Next, we see a trailer compromised of eerie dialogue while the camera pans closer toward a pocket tv.  No Code Studios and Annapurna Interactive are working on Silent Hill: Townfall, a spin-off from the mainline series.

Konami

Return to Silent Hill

Cited as a contributor of re-kindling the fire for the Silent Hill franchise, the showcase brought in Christophe Gans and Victor Hadida, the director and producer respectively of the 2006 Silent Hill movie, with news that they are working on Return to Silent Hill–the third movie installment. Production is still in its early stages, so we will have to wait for further details.

Konami

Silent Hill: Ascension

Silent Hill: Ascension is Konami’s answer to changing things up. Genvid Entertainment, Bad Robot Games, dj2 Entertainment, and Behaviour Interactive are collaborating on an interactive and live experience on multiple platforms where players control the characters and change the outcome of the story. Unfortunately, we are left with only these vague details at this time.

Silent Hill f

The last announcement featured a chilling trailer of another game in the making, Silent Hill f. Here, you witness a woman walking around 1960’s Japan, but her environment slowly is consumed by these strange, red plants. Soon, it consumes her.

Konami

But wait, there’s more…Merch!

Motoi shared some new merch for fans to start collecting, including 1/6 scale statues of Red Pyramid Thing, James Sunderland, Maria, and the Inu-end by Gecco. Konami is also making a limited edition board collection, a Silent Hill sign, clothing, and adorable plushie.
