Recently executives of Sony Honda Mobility have divulged to Financial Times that plans of incorporating entertainment, such as movies, music, and video games, into future electric cars will bring a premium experience to the transportation industry.
Electric vehicles have become more popular so the thought of enhancing a persons transportation experience through technology coupled with entertainment is not so farfetched. Whether this comes in the form of a standard incorporation or a service you pay for monthly such as potentially a PlayStation Plus Mobile package of some kind, would entice frequent travelers. This also could be popular as the price rises for airfare and fuel sources.
Senior Vice President of AI Robotics Business for Sony Izumi Kawanishi said, “Sony has content, services and entertainment technologies that move people. We are adapting these assets to mobility, and this is our strength against Tesla,” he continued to say, “Tesla is not providing any content services,” as well as “To enjoy the space in your car, you have to make it a space where you don’t need to drive” This would be definitely an interesting offering for self-driving vehicles or for the passengers in a car.
The company is hoping to unveil an electric vehicle with these potential capabilities by 2025, and who knows what other surprises could pop up between now and then in the entertainment and technology sector.
Would you purchase an electric vehicle with these capabilities? Is this a good avenue that Honda and Sony should take? I can’t wait to see what 2025 and beyond offers. Let us know your thoughts.
