Sackboy: A Big Adventure Alarmingly Unpopular on PC

1–2 minutes

Sony’s latest PC port, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, has had a distressingly low player count since its release on October 27. As indicated by website SteamDB, which tracks activity on Valve’s Steam service, Sackboy: A Big Adventure has had a peak of only 610 active users, and it is just the 121st best selling game on the gaming platform.

Earlier in the month, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection had set the record for the lowest concurrent players of any Sony title at launch, with 10,851. At the time, this was concerning as Days Gone had the next lowest player count for a Sony game with 27,450.

It’s unknown at the time how well Sackboy: A Big Adventure has sold on Steam, but these statistics don’t paint a positive picture, as all others have had thousands more active users during the same time frame, and place much higher on the best-selling charts.

Sony began porting their first party titles to PC starting with Horizon Zero Dawn in 2020. Since then, PC ports of Days Gone, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure have been released; ports of Returnal, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and The Last of Us Part I are also in the works.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure released on November 12, 2020 as a PS5 launch title; the game also arrived on PS4 that same day. The game is a 3D platforming spinoff of the LittleBigPlanet franchise, and developed by Sumo Digital.

Although Sackboy: A Big Adventure isn’t nearly as popular as other Sony games such as God of War and Horizon, the fact that the last two releases have come up so short may give the Japanese publisher pause to rethink their PC strategy.

What are your thoughts? Did you expect Sackboy: A Big Adventure to fair well on PC? If you’ve played the game, what are your thoughts on it? Does Sony need to tweak their PC strategy? Please let us know what you think in the comments below, as well as on our social media platforms.
