Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarök were among a host of games to rack up numerous awards at the 2022 The Game Awards.
This year’s The Game Awards were Dec. 8 in Los Angeles and recognized a wide variety of games from a host of developers. These awards come a few weeks after the Golden Joystick Awards, which saw Elden Ring bring home four awards.
A jury comprised of over 100 media and influencer outlets from around the world voted on the awards to determine the winners.
Elden Ring also performed well at The Game Awards as it won four categories including Game of the Year. Overall, the game garnered seven nominations.
God of War Ragnarök, however, had the bigger night as it scored six awards, including Best Narrative and Best Action/Adventure, out of its 10 nominations.
Another top performer was Stray, winning Best Indie and Best Debut Indie out of its six nominations. Final Fantasy XIV won both its nominations — Best Ongoing Game and Best Community Support — while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won Most Anticipated Game.
Horizon Forbidden West had seven nominations, but did not land any wins. It lost to either Elden Ring or God of War Ragnarök in each of its categories.
Awards weren’t the only feature of The Game Awards. There were a host of game reveals and trailers throughout the event, setting up the schedule for the following year.
