The ESRB has rated the first six Final Fantasy titles for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, as spotted by Reddit user u/cefaluu. This comes after the Entertainment Software Rating Board listed Final Fantasy VI for Windows PC back in January.
These listing updates come at an appropriate time, as the franchise celebrates its 35th anniversary later this week on December 18.
While not confirmed, the games being updated on the ESRB website highly suggests that an official announcement is imminent.
The listings are very likely for the Pixel Remaster versions of these games, which first released on mobile devices in 2021; they later came to PC, with VI arriving in January of this year. Fans have been waiting eagerly for these classic titles to be ported to consoles, with the Nintendo Switch in particular a heavy favorite due to its portability.
The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection updates the first six games with cleaner graphics, more polished English translations, more streamlined gameplay, and more cohesion between the six titles compared to when they originally released. There has been some minor backlash at these remasters however as they have omitted many of the extras for the games that came with other ports, such as The After Years sequel to Final Fantasy IV.
