Disney has unveiled the final trailer for Ahsoka, giving the viewers the first look at Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Rosario Dawson reprises her role as Ahsoka Tano in the new Disney+ series. The series begins after the events of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, in which we see the former Jedi looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen.
In the two-minute clip, Dawson takes center stage as the titular Ahsoka in an expanded preview that unveils more battle scenes and provides a deeper glimpse into the ensemble cast. Alongside Dawson, the lineup includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as the conflicted Jedi-turned-mercenary Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.
From the beginning of the trailer, Ahsoka’s goal is clear: she swears to prevent Thrawn from assuming the title of “heir to the Empire.” Winstead’s persona plays an important part in convincing Ahsoka to seek out Sabine and join arms in the oncoming conflict. As the teaser progresses, viewers get a slew of fight sequences, including battles in space and lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat. Furthermore, the teaser provides a more in-depth look at Stevenson’s character, Baylan Skoll, in one of the late actor’s final appearances before his death in May.
Dave Filoni is executive producing and writing the series alongside Jon Favreau.
Ahsoka will follow in the footsteps of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series with a two-episode premiere. The series premieres August 23rd on Disney+.
