Disney spent a portion of its D23 Expo presentation to highlight some of the future projects coming from Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise, including the announcement of The Mandalorian’s third season.
The D23 Expo was at the Anaheim Convention Center near Disneyland in Southern California. The event is a fan experience where Disney and its subsidiaries provide information and trailers via presentations.
Disney showcased numerous updates and trailers during its Lucasfilm and Star Wars presentations, some of which were exclusive to the presentation. Here’s what fans can expect:
- The final trailer of Andor dropped during the Star Wars presentation. This show is centered on Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and his recruitment into the rebellion against the Empire. It takes place five years before Rogue One. The series is now airing every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
- Fans will get to learn a little bit more about Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku thanks to an upcoming animated series of shorts called Tales of the Jedi. Fans got to see a trailer for the show set to release on Disney Plus on Oct. 26.
- Disney dropped another trailer for the Disney Plus series Willow in preparation for its Nov. 30 release. The eight-episode series will take viewers back to the world from the 1988 movie of the same name.
- Star Wars: The Bad Batch season two is set for Jan. 4, 2023 and will feature a two-episode premiere on Disney Plus.
- The wait is over for The Mandalorian season 3 as fans got a new trailer that featured both Grogu, colloquially known as Baby Yoda, and Din Djarin, the eponymous Mandolorian. Fans can expect the third season to come to Disney Plus in 2023.
- Harrison Ford made an appearance to talk about the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 film. He treated fans with an exclusive look at the first trailer, which showcased the return of John RhysDavies as Sallah. It also revealed Phoebe Waller-Bridges as Helena, the goddaughter of Jones. The fifth installment will release in theaters on June 30, 2023.
- A first look at the live-action series Ahsoka debuted at the presentation, offering some imagery. The first look hinted at a possible connection with the animated series Rebels. The show is set for Disney Plus in 2023.
- Fans also got a preview, not a trailer, of Skeleton Crew, which features Jude Law. This show is about a group of younglings that get lost in space. It will premiere on Disney Plus in 2023.
