Boss Rush Banter: Who Got Snubbed From the 99 Club in Madden 24?

The start of NFL training camp means one thing in the minds of sports gamers across the country – Madden Week has arrived.

Each day during the week of July 17th, EA released its grades for a different position group in the game; Monday started it off with the Wide Receivers and it wrapped up Friday at noon with the Quarterbacks.

Marked as a Christmas in July for fans of the game, this annual announcement gives enthusiasts a quick taste of what’s in store for the August 18th release, and let’s just say you may not be happy with what’s under the tree this year.

The game will launch with five 99s in Aaron Donald, Justin Jefferson, Zack Martin, Travis Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes. For a league filled with superstars, these five certainly belong in the elite club, but it feels as though the Madden evaluators failed some athletes who qualified to be on the list.

Today, our goal is to figure out who got snubbed from the 99 club in Madden 24?

DE Nick Bosa, San Francisco 49ers

I had to wipe my eyes and make sure I read that right when the first report came out. The nerve EA Sports must have to wipe its nose at the DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR astounds me. The man led the NFL with 18.5 sacks last season and carried a hurt team to the NFC Championship. The disrespect is unbelievable.

WR Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

Some of you may argue this, but I don’t think you appreciate the numbers Hill put up last season. Finishing 2nd in the NFL in receiving yards is an incredible feat on its own, but it becomes twice as remarkable when you remember WR2 in Miami, Jaylen Waddle, finished 7th in the league. For comparison, the 99-rated Justin Jefferson had little competition with WR50, Adam Thielen, for targets. With more mouths to feed, Hill thrived in the Miami air and deserves to be a 99.

LT Trent Williams, San Francisco 49ers

The value Williams brought to the 49ers last season is hard to quantify, but luckily, the good folks at Pro Football Focus did it for me. Grading him at a position-leading 91.7, he proved to be the best in the game at the 2nd-hardest position in the sport. Oh, did I forget to mention he only allowed 1 sack all year? Give this man his 99!
