It’s looking like there really is a Christmas in July this year. Last week, EA Sports released a trailer announcing that College Football 25 will come out July 19th. It will be the first collegiate football video game since 2013.
As soon as the video went online, it didn’t take long for it to go viral. With over 2.3 million views and counting, the trailer has been all that sports gaming fans are talking about. Heck, it’s been analyzed for details and Easter Eggs more than a Taylor Swift song at this point, and it’s easy to see why.
From the marching bands, to the life-like graphics, to the actual locker rooms, this trailer somehow did the impossible – it captured the magic of Saturday football.
It made you count the days until it’s college gameday and thank the lord you didn’t have to wait as long for this beautiful video game. I can honestly say, I’ve never had a two-minute clip for a sports game do something like that to me until now and it made me think, did College Football 25 drop the best sports game trailer of all time?
Yes
My knee-jerk reaction is yes, obviously. I mean, I wouldn’t be writing this article if I didn’t feel strongly about it. The time and effort that the creators put into this game is remarkable, and the fact that this trailer is only a fraction of what the final product is really makes me giddy. Even though the same company makes them both, it doesn’t feel like a Madden game, but rather its own entity, which is everything I could have hoped for and more.
No
But if I think about it, maybe this answer is being influenced by nostalgia. We all have a tendency to look back on memories with rose-colored glasses, and seeing this trailer might just be making me reminisce on those times when I was a kid playing this game. Perhaps it’s just its absence from my life for so long that makes me this excited that it’s finally returning. But man, do those graphics look insane!
Maybe So
Either way, the fans have been deprived of a series they loved for 11 years, and now their patience has finally been rewarded. The game seems to have really progressed leaps and bounds from its predecessor with all its new features and I can’t wait to play it when it comes out.
So what do you think? Do you think it’s just the nostalgia talking or does this trailer rank with the best of ’em? Share your reactions in the comments below or join in the conversation on Boss Rush Network’s Discord and Facebook.
