Tales of Arise is Getting New DLC Called Beyond the Dawn

A new journey set within the world of Tales of Arise is on its way.

Bandai Namco revealed downloadable content for the action role-playing game called Beyond the Dawn during the September 2023 Sony State of Play. The developer will release the DLC on Nov. 9.

This expansion is the first DLC in the Tales series. It will add onto the 2021 game Tales of Arise and will pick right where the main story left off.

The DLC will center on a girl named Nazamil as she comes to grips with the new world in the wake of the events of Tales of Arise. Bandai Namco showcased elements of the story during a two-minute trailer.

Bandai Namco General Producer Yusuke Tomizawa claimed the DLC will be sizeable as it took him 20 hours to play through the story. According to How Long to Beat, the main story of Tales of Arise takes about 40.5 hours to beat.

This announcement comes after Bandai Namco filed patents for the title of Beyond the Dawn in late 2022. At the time, there was a lot of speculation as the developer initially said it had no plans for DLC as it was happy with how the story ended.

Tales of Arise found a lot of critical success as it garnered an 87 score on Metacritic and a 7.9 user rating on Metacritic for its PlayStation 5 release. The game sold over 2 million copies across its PlayStation, Xbox, and PC releases as of April 2022 after it reached 1.5 copies sold in its first month.

Reacting to the News

This announcement was not on a lot of peoples’ radar. It threw me off when I saw it largely because there was a lot of discussion surrounding a potential new installment in the Tales game.

I haven’t played Tales of Arise, but it was close to the top of my list to get to since I got a PlayStation 5. This gives me more reason to hurry up and play it.

I’ve heard from many that this is one of the best Tales games and worth the time invested. Adding a DLC further shows that Bandai Namco has a lot of trust in this game and the fans seem in agreement.

It’s been nice to see solid DLCs coming out as of late with both Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Horizon Forbidden West being just some of the games going the named expansion route.

I think Tales of Arise will greatly benefit from this and should see a nice boost in popularity and sales as it might bring in some newcomers.
