Since my childhood, The Sims franchise remains a constant presence in my life. It’s one of the first games I’ve ever played and loved. My grandmother quickly became annoyed with me taking her Nokia to play The Sims 2 on it. Despite the tiny screen, limited choices, and inability to leave the house, that mobile game was pretty entertaining for a five-year-old. As I grew older and technology grew along with me, The Sims 4 base game features weren’t enough to enjoy playing the game without player-created mods and content.
Whenever I’m in the mood to play The Sims 4, I always find myself thinking, “But I don’t have any CC or mods downloaded right now.” Then, the mood completely dies. Downloading CC (custom content) is time-consuming, especially if you’re like me and treat it like a day-long shopping trip while organizing everything into specific folders.
Inserting creative works into the game that dedicated players made changes it into a whole new experience. The possibilities are endless, and once you get a taste of playing The Sims 4 with fan-made content, you won’t ever want to play it any other way.

The base game doesn’t include all the fancy stuff that comes with the expensive packs and add-ons; so without CC, playing The Sims 4 is quite boring with all the limitations and exclusions. There comes a point where downloading mods is needed.
Are there any specific type of mods and CC that you need in order to play The Sims 4 or any Sims game? Do you look for quality-of-life mods or stick to ones that buff the aesthetics? Do you need mods at all?
