The Modding community is a piece of the gaming community that can’t be neglected. They are players who are so enraptured by a game they try their best to add more content to it to enrich their experience. Mods exist for so many games, but what video game has the best mods?
The first game to come to mind is Skyrim. For me personally, Skyrim was the first game I saw with mods. It was a big enough game with enough of a fan base to have mod news circulate into my circle of gaming. I’ve seen plenty of mods for Skyrim that take the game above and beyond.
But, for mods that I personally explored and played through, it has to be Minecraft. The game has such a rich modding community who take the game to new heights. Its mods have quite literally changed the way I play the game while giving it a new challenge to its survival and creative aspect.
The other game that comes to mind for modding is The Sims 4. I have seen so many videos and threads about the mods available in the game. In fact, I’ve read a Boss Rush article written by Ren Lee talking about how the base gameplay suffers from playability when compared to the gameplay offered by mods. The mods introduce new customizations, species, and lifestyles. It simply astounds me how much time and effort players go through to recreate a cycle of life in a video game.
Now, with less combat-intensive games, I can’t forget about Stardew Valley. This game blew away the community with its base gameplay and has gone even further with its mods. Luna Reyne wrote an article on Boss Rush highlighting a few mods on Stardew Valley that they felt improved the game. It’s taking a great game and making it even better. It’s easy to say that the modding community went sky high with their efforts in making the game phenomenal.
I can’t forget one last game that contends for having the best mods, and that’s Baldur’s Gate 3. I have seen so many mods for the game to improve its gameplay and customization. I cannot even remember how many threads and videos I’ve saved highlighting mods I absolutely adored. Similar to the other games, it has a great base game that players loved enough to want more from it.
Mods are a great way to show the creativity and love players have. Although, it’s a battle to really say if one video game has better mods than another since the mods themselves range so much from playability improvements to character customizations. What video game do you think has the best mods? What is your favorite mod, and for what game? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below or in our Boss Rush Discord!
