Disney recently unveiled its first look at the upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In a recent image, Rachel Zegler graces the screen as the Disney princess, surrounded by her faithful Seven Dwarfs. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the final product since Disney has shifted the film’s release date from March 22, 2024, to March 21, 2025.
Zegler’s portrayal of Snow White will be opposite of Gal Gadot, who takes on the role of The Evil Queen. Ansu Kabia is cast as the Huntsman, and Andrew Burnap plays a new character named Jonathan.
Zegler’s recent revelation about the film’s narrative direction has sparked a wave of discussions online. The promise of a storyline that amplifies Snow White’s journey toward leadership, rather than emphasizing the traditional romantic plot, represents a bold departure from the original source material. Zegler’s historic casting as the first Latina to portray Snow White has also triggered debates about representation and the evolution of beloved characters in contemporary storytelling.
Helmed by director Marc Webb, known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man franchise and critically acclaimed films such as 500 Days of Summer and Gifted, and featuring a script from the duo of Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
