Cardboard boxes are entering the squared circle.
Wrestling Carboard Championship, which Evil Geometry developed and published, is a fighting game that pits cardboard boxes against one another in professional wrestling matches. The game released on Steam on March 26.
The game features an angled top-down view on a wrestling ring with boxes as competitors. These boxes will compete in wrestling venues that draw inspiration from famed arenas such as Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Tokyo Dome.
There are 12 boxes for players to use and each one draws inspiration from actual wrestlers. These boxes will each feature their own entrance, theme music, and personality.
Wrestling Cardboard Championship will have a local multiplayer option that allows up to four players to compete in various matches.
There is also a career mode for single players. Evil Geometry states this mode will follow the Normal Box, which is in its last days of usefulness. Rather than being crushed and recycled, the box decides to make a name for itself in WCC.
Evil Geometry states it plans to further add to the game through upcoming downloadable content. The developer states its DLC will include additional boxes and arenas as a way to “(expand) the universe and (ensure) the action never grows old.”
Evil Geometry is an indie developer based out of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. Wrestling Cardboard Championship is the company’s third game as it released both Anima Path and Mishi-p in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

Reacting to the News
In a crowded indie game world, the surefire way to stand out is to offer something unique. Wrestling Cardboard Championship excels at that on every level.
I am a big professional wrestling fan, which is why this was sent my way. The sport is over-the-top and theatrical, making it a unique form of entertainment. This game ramps that up further.
I have no idea how this game will perform or be received, but it is exactly the kind of approach indie developers should be taking.
I mean, on my most creative days, I would have never thought to put cardboard boxes in wrestling ring and make a game of it. Now, the developers have ensured I will not forget this game even if I’m not a Steam user.
Wrestling Carboard Championship seems to be the perfect game to play after a long day. It doesn’t require much though, but has the potential for a lot of fun.
