Kickstarter is a wonderful place for indie devs to raise money to support their efforts in making their video game dream a reality; however, when there are hundreds of listings on the site, it may be hard for gamers to find one to support. I have found many games from PAX East 2024 that have either completed their Kickstarter journey, just launched a campaign, or preparing to launch one. Here are some of the top video games featured at PAX East 2024 to track on Kickstarter.
Active Kickstarter Campaign(s):
Obsolete Souls™ Episode 0: Operation Haiti
Game developer, Dennel Cake, is working on this Streets of Rage style beat-em-up with Haitian flair. Obsolete Souls™ Episode 0: Operation Haiti is a prequel to their other game Obsolete Souls™ RPG. There are several tiers of support, starting from $10 up to $100, and rewards vary from having your name in the credits to receiving the game’s soundtrack. The team hopes to release Obsolete Souls™ Episode 0: Operation Haiti in 2025, and they are looking to raise at least $40,000 on Kickstarter. The funds are intended to support the team’s limited resources in areas such as engineering, voice acting, animated cutscenes, narrative visuals, in-game animation, and Haitian Creole translations.
I had the pleasure of playing the demo at PAX East 2024, and it was a blast battling my way through a Haiti-inspired environment. I want to see more video games highlight and celebrate other countries and cultures in the video game industry.
