Free League Publishing’s award-winning ALIEN RPG will debut its second edition Kickstarter this Autumn, featuring new core rules, a new starter set, a new cinematic scenario set, and a miniatures line. The second edition is fully compatible with all first edition releases and game material.
The second edition of the core rules features an updated and streamlined version of ALIEN RPG, as well as new artwork, new material, and a variety of new tools for players and game masters (called Game Mothers after the computer from Alien).
The new second edition starter set is “redesigned as the perfect starting point for newcomers to roleplaying in the ALIEN universe,” featuring abridged rules, character sheets, custom dice, reference cards, handouts, and expanded version of the fan-favorite Hope’s Last Day, scenario. This scenario is set on Hadley’s Hope immediately before the events of Aliens.
The new cinematic scenario boxed set, Rapture Protocol, written by Jonathan Hicks and Free League’s Tomas Härenstam, returns to the roots of the ALIEN franchise, featuring the crew of a small star freighter on a resupply run to the remote industrial colony, soon embroiled in a deadly conflict.
The miniatures set is designed to bring the events of Rapture Protocol to life, but fully complement other adventures and skirmish battles throughout the ALIEN RPG series. It may operate similarly to the Mutant Year Zero: War Zone sets, allowing players to immediately transition back and forth from the roleplaying game to miniature battles.
