Whitethorn Games and North Star Video Games have announced their newest title: Spray Paint Simulator.
In the game, the town of Splatterville is in dire need of a makeover. It’s up to the player to beautify and rejuvenate Splatterville. Check out the trailer below if you haven’t had a chance to see it.
At PAX West, I got a hands-on experience with the demo and I met the Lead Artist and Creative Director Nick Jefferson Tame. He has been in the industry for two decades and won a BAFTA Children’s Video Game Award in 2007 for the game Buzz! Junior Jungle Party. He also won a Kinderpreis GIGA-Maus in 2007 for Buzz Junior: Reborn and received a Parents Choice Silver Honour for Stuart Little 3: Big Photo Adventure.
I also met with the Lead Programmer and Technical Director Adam Mitchell, who has been in the industry for two decades and worked at Skyhook Games, Cosmonaut Studios Ltd., Starship Group, and Magenta Software. He also won a BAFTA Children’s Video Game Award for Buzz! Junior Jungle Party.

Before I started the demo, I listened to the funk disco theme music on the title screen and told Nick and Adam I needed the soundtrack because it was the best score I heard at PAX West. The music has a calm yet dance vibe as it plays while you spray paint. From chill hop to jazzy tunes, Spray Paint Simulator offers music that will calm you and help you relax when you just need some music to vibe to.

I started the demo by buying supplies before I was able to paint. Nick directed me to the store and explained the items I needed to complete the task. He also said I could upgrade equipment, some vehicles, and tools that would help me in various jobs. Starting with tape and paint, my job was to spray paint a car red for my client. I had to remove some car parts and then I could tape and cover the areas that weren’t being painted. At the top left, it showed how many areas needed to be covered before I could progress. Once everything was covered, I could continue the mission.
As I was getting my red paint ready, Nick said I could use different paint colors of my choice for some jobs. While I was painting, I was told if I wanted to see what needed to be done on the car, all I had to do was press the camera button in and it would highlight what needed to be painted over. When complete, it would turn white to show that the area or part was completed. I also jumped on the car to spray the roof and didn’t leave a footprint or dent on it. What a relief! I didn’t need to rush anything because there was no time limit so I could take my time to perfect my task.

Spray Paint Simulator will have a story mode and players can unlock the free play mode where they can be creative in what colors to use to paint houses, vehicles, and even a GIANT ROBOT!! WHAT?? Yes, there will be so much for players to color.
Whitethorn Games and North Star Video Games have planned to release Spray Paint Simulator for Steam only. We hope to see it on other platforms in the future.
