With Mophandrix the Great free, our Questing Queens have earned their boon. However, their eyes swiftly turn to the tower. Mophandrix wasn’t the only one who the wizards trapped.

Mysaara reveals she seeks the boon of immortality for her lover, and considering her watery disposition, I can’t help but think there is a dark connection between the fae and the Queen of Everdeep. Everything about her screams water.

As the dragon takes out the wizards, our group rushes to the aid of a panicked Spoll. Considering her proclaimed sisterhood to all fae left behind, Mysaara’s quick aid comes as no surprise, but though she lifts them from the ice, its Twyla who uses her magic to slowly thaw. His family, now free, fly and spiral through the air.

While Mysaara could easily heal Spoll’s wings, she does not do so; instead, the fae of the drowning pool encourages Mysaara to consider revenge. Furthermore, she lures Spoll away where she could easily drown him after repeatedly saying that drowning men was her happy place.

Mysaara rages when alone with Twyla, admitting she seeks to overthrown Titania and fight against the humans, who she blames for the downfall of Arcadia. Though her vindictive fury makes sense, the fact that Twyla doesn’t even try to explain what Inira has done and why she can’t be trusted. Unsurprisingly, she leaves, and only after Mysaara has gone does the group discover she has taken the boon from them.

The queens should have immediately gone looking for Spoll; instead, they got drunk. They didn’t keep track of Roy either. All the giggles around the table left me shaking my head repeatedly as they seemed to purposefully be undermining all their fantastic strides earlier on in the season.

Already caught, the group head to Mount Magmaron on Mophandrix’s back. He promised them justice. Whether this is possible, we’ll have to wait to see. I’m betting on Constano revealing his idiocy to be a ruse. If that is the case, Mysaara has left the perfect spy in the midst of our questing queens.

The queens regroup, confirming Aasiya is poor, and Krag challenges the fake princess to a duel.

They also confirm that Titania cares deeply for Mysaara, yearning for the whole of fae to be reunited and put protection of each other over to revenge.

Unfortunately, amidst all this, they discover Inira has her immortality and Constano is Lord Aleksei, who has succeeded in tricking them all and getting away with the tool needed to control the Krakyn.

Highlights

Some of the most hilarious monologues come when the players elect not to interrupt a DM when they clearly have no true idea where they’re going. While Brennan Lee Mulligan is masterful on his feet, Constano’s attempts at comforting rambled far afield.

Final Score (3 out of 5 Stars)

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Mysaara’s intensity threw everyone off so badly in the episode’s opening. The more our questing queens learn of the game, the better they understand how underhanded and tricky a masterful DM like Brennan can be, leaving them suspicious of the more quietly intense NPCs.

Yet despite not trusting her and getting confused by her, they spend a good portion of this episode debating whether or not to give her a dragon’s boon. Troyánn’s distrust is reasonable, but her rudeness flies directly in the face of all warnings about fae. Even more worrying, they don’t even consider the danger of allowing Mysaara to press revenge on Spoll.

The group were doing so well in the first three episodes, and they lost a bit of the plot in this one. Did they forget that Queen Inira sold souls to maintain her youth? This one was a hard watch.
