Do you want to get a job at a corporation that sucks away the life out of its employees, leaving only your bones in place? Or have managers that treat lives as expendable forces to prioritize maximum profit? Not to mention systems that are so evil, it’s almost demonic. If your worried they may turn down your application, don’t fret! You can always pay them a visit in CYBRLICH and the Death Cult of Labor.
Tired of Your job? Try the Afterlife!

You’re a broke bum who’s at the end of their rope. You happen to play as one too, in the upcoming boomer shooter: CYBRLICH. The player finds themselves in search to turn their life around for the better. Where else to go other than the only place hiring?
Welcome to LICHCORP, the monopolistic corporation that’s probably evil. They also made the mistake of letting you in through their doors. Your life means more to you than just being another head that’s counted, so why not pick up a really cool sword and do something about it? That’s when CYBRLICH and the protagonist’s objective gets set in motion. It’s your character versus LICHCORP.
Eye Candy

The developers of CYBRLICH set up a booth in PAX East 2025 to show off their debut title. What drew me in wasn’t just an email they sent to me, but the artwork they had to show for it. With a young comic artist on the team, Polyhedra Games was absolutely wrapping this game up and marinating it in style.
The game holds an unorthodox and distinctive soul along with its crisp and minimalistic color palette. The effort put into the intro sequence alone was astonishing. Though there was only the first chapter available in the demo, CYBRLICH went above and beyond to keep me glued to the screen. From eccentric animations to dialogue that breaks more walls than just four, it’s hard to believe this is the studio’s first title.
But Can You Smoke Weed?

Of course you can! This world isn’t that evil. Feel free to light up some good old reefer toree-load your handgun ammo. See what I did there? Ammo in CYBRLICH works respective to your mental state. If you’re not in the right mood, your primary gun becomes useless. Healing works similarly. By consuming burgers from vending machines throughout the workplace, you can get back to tip-top shape just in time to put a bullet hole in the skeleton a couple cubicles down.
Your other primary weapon is a sword you stole from the wizard in H.R. Yikes. Recommended for close combat encounters, the sword can be swapped out at any time to deal with the different enemy types. Hitting a target four times consecutively deals combo damage as well, providing chain attacks when things get rough.
With other tools and makeshift weapons you’ll find laying around the workplace, you’ll be given plenty of freedom of approach for the waves of enemies being sent from upper-middle management.
Wrapping Up

CYBRLICH and the Death Cult of Labor is a fast-paced, blood-soaked revolt of a corporate world. The demo demonstrates that these young developers aren’t scared to get strange and, more importantly, have something to say, with its vocal message of counterculture through an exaggerated portrayal of a nine-to-five office job. Is it OSHA approved? No, but playing the game is an experience that will stick with you.
The development for CYBRLICH and the Death Cult of Labor is still underway. You can support the team by checking out their Kickstarter or wish list the game right now on Steam.
