PlayStation made a bold move, holding a Sony State of Play the day before the Switch 2 launch and Summer Game Fest. If you missed it, no worries. Here are all the announcements and updates from the latest State of Play–fully loaded with games releasing through 2026.
Astrobot Updates
Team Asobi continues to provide content for their beloved platformer hit, Astrobot. Later this month, Team Asobi will add five additional levels and new bots, such as one from Ghost of Yotei. They also hinted the return of the Astrobot-themed Dual Sense controller…with a twist.
Baby Steps
Devolver Digital’s next game, Baby Steps, made a brief appearance with a release date trailer–September 8th, 2025.
Blood Stained: The Scarlet Engagement – 2026
A follow-up to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, this 2.5D action RPG will release sometime next year.
Cairn – 2025
This realistic mountain climbing sim by an indie developer is an immersion masterpiece, and a demo is now available. Watch your step, maintain balance, and be careful where you place your weight. Cairn will release November 5th, 2025.
Digimon Story Time Stranger
A release date trailer was shown off for the next installment in the Digimon Story franchise that has you traversing through the human and Digital World. It releases October 3rd, 2025.
Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots – 2025
A gameplay trailer was shown off for Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots. Featuring time and weather changes, several worldwide courses, and massive character roster, you can pre-order now and unlock PAC-MAN. Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots releases September 5th, 2025.
FBC: Firebreak
Did you know Remedy was making this game? The Oldest House needs your help dispelling the wrath of Sticky Notes. Neutralize your threat in this 3-player co-op shooter set in the world of Control. FBC: Firebreak releases this summer to the PS 5 and game catalogue.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
Alert! We have another reboot, and this is for the beloved Final Fantasy Tactics game initially released in 1997. This game features both a Classic and Enhanced version included in the game. The Enhanced version will have a renewed interface, voice actors, and other tweaks and additions. It will drop September 30th, 2025, and pre-orders (including a Collector’s Edition) are available now.
First Light – 2026
We have our very first look at the 007 game made by the team behind the Hitman franchise, First Light. However, there will be more. There will be an IOI Showcase on Friday, June 6th at 9PM EST that will shed more…light on this 2026 game.
Ghost of Yotei – 2025
Not much can be said here, but we see a short trailer, promising a deep dive in July for Ghost of Yotei.
Hirogami
Hirogami is an adorable 3D action platformer based around the premise of origami. You are the protagonist named Hiro who can fold himself into various forms to get around. Hirogami launches September 3rd, 2025. Pre-orders are open.
Lumines Arise – 2025
The State of Play kicked off with a brightly colored, musical number, turning into a game announcement. Lumines Arise is a catchy puzzle game at heart, naturally from the makers of Tetris Effect: Connected. Lumines Arise arrives this fall.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls – 2026
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls closed the Sony State of Play with an announcement trailer and commentary from Reed Baird, senior producer of XDev (PlayStation Studios), Takeshi Yamanaka, producer of ARC System Works, and Michael Francisco, senior product development manager at Marvel Games. This stylish 4v4 fighter will release in 2026.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – 2025
As we inch closer to its release later this year, Konami shared a more in-depth gameplay trailer…and hinting at a possible online/multi-player mode.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection – 2025
From the people that made you the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, Digital Eclipse set their sights on brining us the classics of Mortal Kombat. The collection will feature Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat 4, and more.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound – 2025
Let’s hear it for Ninja Gaiden making a comeback. This 2D adventure where you play as two ninjas set to hunt demons was lovingly created by the developers of Blasphemous. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound releases soon–July 31st, 2025.
Nioh 3 – 2026
Team Ninja brings announces their latest installment of their action-RPG samurai franchise, Nioh 3, which will arrive early 2026.
PlayStation Plus: Classics
The following games will be added to the Classics catalogue:
- Deus Ex (6/17/2025)
- Resident Evil 2 & 3 Nemesis (Summer 2025)
- Twisted Metal 3 & 4 (7/15/2025)
- Myst and Riven (Later this month as part of Days of Play)
Pragmata – 2026
Capcom made an appearance, but it wasn’t for Resident Evil. No, it looks like their action sci-fi game, Pragmata (which previously seemed to be delayed or even cancelled a few years back), will finally debut next year.
Project Defiant Teased
Sony has thrown its hat into the ring with its wireless fight stick, Project Defiant (code name). More information, including final name will be share at a later time.
Romeo is a Dead Man – 2026
Suda was happy to announce his next game with Grasshopper Manufacture, Romeo is a Dead Man, and it is very much a Suda game. It’s action-packed with whacky circumstances, color, and gory violence.
Sea of Remnants – 2026
Developed by Joker Studio, Sea of Remnants is an RPG with a unique puppet-like art style. Explore and adventure as the life of a sailor in 2026!
Silent Hill f – 2025
Chills are abundant in the latest Silent Hill f trailer. What did Hinako do to be called a traitor? You’re just going to have to see for yourself on September 25th, 2025.
Sword of the Sea – 2025
Giant Squid is back, and if you liked their previous titles such as The Pathless, and ABZU, then you will like their latest project–Sword of the Sea–an atmospheric adventure game. Inspired by skateboarding games, zoom around on your Hoversword and go exploring August 19th. It will be a part of PlayStation Plus.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow
A new VR game is revealed, based off the renowned stealth franchise, and the release date is TBD.
Tides of Tomorrow -2026
Check out this trailer for a new multi-player game where you carve your own story in Elynd, an oceanic planet struck by a terrible disease.
