Boss Rush Banter: Will Switch 2 Become the New Ultimate Zelda Machine?

Among Zelda fans, the original Nintendo Switch became known as the ultimate Zelda machine, as it gave players access to 15 of the 21 mainline games, leaving out these titles: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, A Link Between Worlds, Tri Force Heroes, The Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess. The Nintendo Switch Online service provided access to many of these fifteen games, complementing the release of Skyward Sword HD, Echoes of Wisdom, and the Era of the Wilds games that released on the best-selling console.

For those who arrived to Zelda fandom because of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, the Nintendo Switch provided a unique opportunity to experience past eras of the franchise, both on the big-screen and on the go. The Switch also provided access to fantastic spin-off titles such as Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the Necrodancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

Despite the most access to the franchise for any Nintendo console ever, many fans still felt frustration over what was left out. Chief among complaints were the often rumored, never released Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD releases. Every Nintendo Direct, fans would put on their proverbial clown faces, believe THIS TIME would be the moment that Nintendo finally announced these ports; of course, these Directs came and went without such announcements.

However, with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo added the GameCube to the Nintendo Switch Online services, and with this came access to Wind Waker. Could Nintendo follow this up with an HD port of Twilight Princess similar to its handling of Skyward Sword on the original Switch? What about adding the DS or 3DS to the Switch 2? This would finally allow the remaining Zelda titles to be accessed by millions of fans unable to get the hardware to play these masterpieces. Perhaps the Nintendo Switch 2 will truly become the ultimate Zelda machine.
