Forever Physical.
Let’s say it again. Forever Physical! Is this a cult? No, but one of the most influential businesses in the video game industry when it comes to physical prints has reached a massive milestone: 10-years. Limited Run is celebrating their anniversary in their brick-and-mortar store in Cary, North Carolina on October 25th, 2025. With giveaways, a chance to peek into a vault for of every single numbered Limited Run game, and special guests, it’s a dream that I am able to attend and cover the event.
As you can imagine, the line was MASSIVE as I rolled up at 9:30 AM; however, everyone was in a great mood. Check out some statements from the Limited Run 10th Anniversary event line!

Samuel:
- How long have you been following Limited Run? “I’ve been following them from the beginning.”
- What brings you here to the anniversary event? “Mostly just wanted to hang out with people…also, there’s a couple of exclusive cover variants.”
- What are some games you’re looking for? “Castlevania, Shantae, and the Doom collection.”
Matt and Robert:
- What do you look to Limited Run for? “Switch exclusives”
- What are some games you’re looking for today? “I have a list… Samurai Jack, Castlevania, and Doom.”
- What are your thoughts on Switch 2 cartridges? “I don’t love game key cards…for preservation’s sake…but I could come around to it eventually.”
Parker and Jordan:
- How long have you been waiting in line? “Waiting for an hour.”
- How far have you traveled? “We’re a town over.”
- What brings you here to the anniversary event? Parker: “I’m looking to get my Streets of Rage 4 signed by Yuzo Koshiro, and the Samurai Jack game if they have it” Jordan: “I’m looking out for the games s I missed like the Gex collection.”
Brian:
- How long have you been waiting in line? “[I’ve been] waiting in line since 9AM the day before.”
- How far have you traveled? “Well, this is the first time I’ve been here. I’m from Missouri, so that’s a really long drive for me.“
- What brings you here to the anniversary event? “I didn’t know it was a pre-owned game store. I thought that was pretty cool.”
- What are some games you’re looking for? “I would like to get all the exclusives that they have on the floor. In the vault…I have a list. The main thing is Jak and Daxter, but I’m also looking for Darkwood, Firewatch, Brean & Clear…and maybe some of the Layers of Fear…[and] Samurai Jack.”
Oliver and Matt:
- How long have you been waiting in line? “Since 11PM yesterday.”
- How far have you traveled? “[We’re] from Connecticut.”
- How long have you followed Limited Run? Matt: “[I’ve been] following them for the last two to three years…Loved Castlevania Dominus collection.” Oliver: “This is my first time”
- What are some games you’re looking for? Matt: “[I love] games that are easy to pick up and start playing.”
Jeff and Roger:
- How long have you been waiting in line? “We got here around 10:20PM last night.”
- How long have you followed Limited Run? Jeff: “Me? Probably a year and a half.”
- What systems do you usually look for when purchasing physicals? Jeff: “Switch, PS4, and PS5.” Roger: “I’m more of a Switch collector.”
- What are some games you’re looking for? “Vault games like Blasphemous. [I love] Metroidvania and RPG games. [Also here for] Arita-san. Huge Pokémon fan. [Looking to get] Earthion signed.”

Alpha and Trey:
- How long have you been waiting in line? “Since 9:30PM last night.”
- How far have you traveled? “[We’re] from out of town.“
- How long have you followed Limited Run? “Maybe about seven years. I purchased stuff online mainly first. We were there for day one. The line for that was way more than this.”
- What brings you here to the anniversary event? “The experience.”
- What are some games you’re looking for? Trey: “[Shantae and the] Pirates Curse.” Alpha: “Panzer Paladin. It’s not the most expensive thing. I want the Switch version because they have it on PS5 and all that, but I want it on the Switch version just because it seems that it would fit that form factor the best. Portably. You can just take it out and put it back home.”
- Do you feel like the switch physicals are more coveted? “Yes. It was the first system I had. My first system was NES. I was seven or eight when it came out. [Nintendo] never stopped. Others jumped in and jumped out, like SEGA jumped out and PlayStation jumped in. Nintendo’s been the GOAT.”
Will and Dylan:
- How long have you been waiting in line? “…a couple of hours.”
- How far have you traveled? “[We’re] a few hours away.“
- How long have you followed Limited Run? Will: “Probably since a year before the store opened here.” Dylan: “Three four years.”

I just love retro re-releases and retro-style indie games. Dylan: “Pick up a few of the exclusives and go into the vault.”
Dave and John:
- How far have you traveled? “We’re just down from Richmond, VA.”
- How long have you followed Limited Run? Dave: “Off and on, maybe a year or so. I randomly saw info on this. I figure ten-year anniversary would be a great time to do so.”
Anna Maria:
- How did you first hear of Limited Run? “By email.”
- What’s your preferred gaming platform and why? ” Nintendo Switch. Nintendo cartridges don’t degrade over time like CDs, so they last longer.”
- What are some games you’re looking for? “Blasphemous.”
Anonymous:
- How would you describe Limited Run to someone who doesn’t know anything about them? “[Well, they] give you a one-up on collecting physical media because most are going digital.“
