Nintendo and Square Enix announced during Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct that fans of Final Fantasy will have something new to play on Switch 2 beginning today on the eShop.
Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion is the HD remaster of a 2007 PSP action RPG that follows the character Zack Fair in the lead-up to the events of Final Fantasy VII.
Previously released in 2022 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows, the HD remaster features a host of new content, including:
- Complete HD graphics overhaul of the character models, UI, and background
- Newly arranged soundtrack by original composer Takeharu Ishimoto
- Fully voiced dialogue in English and Japanese, featuring key members of the Final Fantasy VII Remake voice acting cast
- Updated action combat system, with the option to trigger Limit Breaks and Summons and a streamlined “Digital Mind Wave” (DMW) system
Fans awaiting the conclusion of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy–which concludes with Revelations releasing on April 8, 2027–will want to dive into this prequel adventure, as it too promises to have significant connections to the remake’s final chapter.
