Despite its supply shortage, PlayStation 5 has become the console king among the current generation (within the time period it’s been available). With sales of nearly 7.8 million, Sony’s fifth generation console has outperformed the PS4. It’s hard to determine if most of these sales are connected to scalpers; but at this time, it is impressive to see how it is performing in the market. There is a likelihood of a sharp increase for the numbers once the consoles are available in retail.

With the Nintendo Switch family of systems standing at 84.59 million units sold, PlayStation 5 and Series X will have a lot of work to do over the years to catch up or surpass them with their current consoles. For now, its great to see how well PlayStation 5 numbers are doing.
