According to the official Gotham Knights Twitter, WB Montreal’s upcoming open world action adventure game is set to release on October 22, 2022.
Initially announced during the DC Fandome in 2020, Gotham Knights takes place in a Gotham without Batman. Feared dead, the task of protecting Gotham from its many villains falls now on the Knights; Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood, all of which are playable and with specialized tasks and skills at the ready. Gotham is under siege from the likes of Mr. Freeze, Penguin, and the Court of Owls, a secret society that controls Gotham from the underground, a society that holds many dark secrets.
The game was originally announced to release sometime in 2021, however Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment announced its delay last year due to “…giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players.”
WB Montreal’s last title in the series was 2013’s Batman Arkham Origins. Rocksteady is currently hard at work developing The Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which rumors indicate that it may have been delayed into 2023.
Gotham Knights is slated to release on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC.
