The Ubisoft Forward 2022 showcase happened on Saturday September 10th and featured a wide range of content updates for current Ubisoft titles like Trackmania, Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, and many more, as well as new game announcements from their teams of indie developers, and mainline house studios.
However, the biggest news came out at the end of the showcase, where Danny Wallace (voice actor of Shaun Hastings in almost every mainline Assassins Creed title since the second entry) and Alice Terrett (Senior Community Developer with Ubisoft Montreal) presented so much upcoming news and announcements for the series in celebration of Assassin’s Creed’s 15 year anniversary.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage Trailer and Overview
A still image of an assassin leaping over the crowd with the city of Baghdad in the background was tweeted out by Ubisoft some weeks prior, along with the title Assassins Creed Mirage. Basim Ibn Ishaq takes on the lead as a fledgling street thief who finds the righetous path with the Assassins. Those that remember, Basim was an aid to Eivor in the most recent mainline entry Assassins Creed Valhalla, and Mirage is of course a prequel where we see him become a master assassin. Basim will be mentored by Roshan, a female assassin voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo (a very recognizable voice and talent known for her work in Mass Effect and Destiny 2). Having been born in Tehran, Iran, she came on during the showcase to express her excitement for playing Roshan and having a cultural connection to the character. What we know of the title is it’s a narrative driven, stealth based game reminiscent of the earlier titles in the series, set entirely in Baghdad during the Golden Age in 861. No release date was announced except for the year 2023.
Beyond the Creed Documentary
Viewable now on YouTube, a short documentary of the Assassins Creed series revisits some of the most important milestones in its lifespan, not only from the developers but also from fans and content creators from all over.
Assassins Creed Valhalla The Last Chapter
After a lengthy lifespan of content, Assassins Creed Valhalla will finally say goodbye to its loyal players with the final DLC chapter coming soon. The DLC will have Eivor meet up with old friends and tie up loose ends, come face to face with significant historical figures, and come to terms with Odin, the All Father.
Assassins Creed Codename Jade
Ubisoft is doubling down on its mobile development teams, and they will be bringing a fully open world RPG with the tentative title Assassins Creed Codename Jade. Set in ancient China, the game will allow you to fully customize your assassin, a first for the series. Expect this game to be “coming soon” to mobile platforms.
Netflix Series and Games
Netflix announced a live-action series set in the Assassins Creed universe, with no known release date, and also a mobile game that is exclusive to the Netflix mobile app. Not much else is known about both projects.
Assassins Creed Codename Red
Much to popular demand of players everywhere, their wishes are soon to come true with the future title Assassins Creed Codename Red. The game is set to release sometime in the future (after Mirage) and will take place in Feudal Japan as an open world RPG. You will be playing as a Shinobi ninja, and here’s hoping the game puts heavy emphasis on stealth. The short cinematic trailer featured a black ninja landing on the rooftop with a hidden blade under their left arm. No release date is set, however it is rumored to release a year after Mirage.
Assassins Creed Codename Hexe
Another cryptic trailer popped up with a dark forest backdrop and woven twine and twigs in the shape of the Assassins Creed logo. Behind it is a rune with various symbols that hold a secret to what the game is, and where it could very well take place. Many secrets were in the trailer, and savvy viewers already cracked much of the codes within. “Hexe” means “witch” in German, and according to the many secrets within the trailer, may be taken place during the witch hunts in 16th century Germany. No release date on this one either.
Assassins Creed Infinity
Not a game, but a portal for players to play Assassins Creed games in one place. Not much else is known about Infinity, except that it will unite players with every mainline title in the series into one hub, giving the ability to share experiences, stories, and more in very “meaningful ways.” There also was the potential of bringing in standalone multiplayer in the games, but that has yet to be fully figured out by the development teams, and what it could all entail. This service will be released when Codename Red releases, and will also feature Codename Hexe. More to come on this.
