New Trailer, Release Date for Monster Hunter Inspired Game Wild Hearts

Electronic Arts provided on Wednesday a fresh look at its upcoming Monster Hunter-like game Wild Hearts. The publisher also disclosed that players can expect to dive into the title when it releases on February 17, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Developed by Omega Force–the Japanese studio behind the Dynasty Warriors franchise–, Wild Hearts is a joint venture between EA Originals and Koei Tecmo. The title was first announced in September via a press release on the publishers’ websites.

Touted as being “the next great hunting game,” the trailer for Wild Hearts shows players exploring a fantasy version of feudal Japan as they track down a massive boar named “King Tusk.”

Combat in the game should be familiar to any fans of Capcom’s Monster Hunter series: the player uses a variety of weapons, traps, and gadgets to bring down colossal beasts in lengthy skirmishes, which benefit from careful planning, precise attacks on weak points, and cooperating with other players online.

One unique aspect of the game is a build function that’s not unlike what has been seen in games like Death Stranding and Fortnite. The gameplay trailer depicts the player constructing a makeshift zipline to make traversing a rocky area easier, a fortified wall to protect against the boss’s powerful charging attack, a catapult to slam a large boulder into the enemy, and a tower so as to leap off and onto the mighty beast.

The game certainly looks quite different from Omega Force’s usual offerings, but it retains the kind of polish one would expect from such a renown studio.
