Rounding out the last 15 minutes of Sony’s February 2023 State of Play was a new trailer and deep dive for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
Set five years after Batman: Arkham Knight, Rocksteady was ready to tell a new story from the perspective of the villains. The game is designed to be played either alone with the ability to swap between the four members of the Suicide Squad, or played online with up to four friends.
The trailer takes a look at the start of the story, revealing an evil Flash who Brainiac is manipulating. The Suicide Squad is made up of a reimagining of Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, and Harley Quinn.
Next, we saw some gameplay where the squad takes down a tank and a turret before rescuing Lex Luthor from a shipping container. After that, we see Wonder Woman stop the Flash from attacking the Suicide Squad and interrogates him with the Lasso of Truth. The Flash reveals that the only way to stop what’s happening is to kill the Justice League.
The deep dive with Rocksteady was a highlight of the State of Play as the developers went over squad members’ abilities, weapons, gear sets, vehicles, and cosmetics. Towards the end, they mentioned continued support even after the game is launched. This includes new playable characters, new missions, and new weapons. There will even be a battle pass for additional cosmetics.
The play styles for each character will vary. For instance: Harley Quinn has a grapple ability. This allows her to utilize her acrobatics to scale buildings or make a splash when encountering enemies. Deadshot has a jetpack that allows him to keep his distance and lock in on targets. King Shark has a breast stroke that you can use in any direction, allowing the player to swim through the air. And finally, Captain Boomerang has the Speed Force Gauntlet that he can use to dash around Metropolis with ease.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League releases on May 26th. Will you and your friends be picking up a copy? Be sure to let us know by leaving a comment or by joining our Discord.
