Boss Rush Banter: How Would You Grade the June 2023 Nintendo Direct?

Nintendo fans are always eager for more. For better or for worse, we fans hype ourselves up with each Direct. Nintendo aired approximately 40 minutes of content today, after weeks of Summer Game Fest and other showcases (to no one’s surprise). How did this Direct go for you?

Pokemon Content:

  • Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero: The Teal Mask & The Indigo Disk (specific dates still not released)
  • Detective Pikachu Returns trailer and release date 10/6/2023

Mario Mania:

  • Super Mario RPG remake: 11/17/2023
  • New Princess Peach game announced: 2024
  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (2024)

Overall, I would say it was a solid B+ to A-, depending on your taste. Regardless, there was something old and something new with both first and third party information. After massive game releases this year so far, I wouldn’t expect another massive banger like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or Metroid 4 for a while.
