Aaron Taylor-Johnson goes wild in the first trailer for Sony’s Kraven the Hunter, which marks the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe. The film is slated to release on October 6.
The film’s trailer teases the telling of the Marvel’s character origin story. In comic book storylines, Kraven is a killer predator that sets his sights on Spider-Man.
Sony released a poster for the movie that has Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven seated upon a throne made of bones and is evocative of the cover of 2018’s The Amazing Spider-Man #17. Kraven is in the spotlight, his abs on display as he relaxes on a chair that appears to have been constructed from men’s skulls while wearing a saber-toothed necklace and a fur-lined vest.
In April, Sony previewed the movie to moviegoers at Cinema Con, bringing Taylor-Johnson onstage to present the footage. Kraven the Hunter marks the first R-rated Marvel picture from Sony.
“Villains aren’t born — they’re made,” the trailer promises, hinting that the movie would examine Sergei Kravinoff’s development from a young child reared in difficult circumstances into a homicidal threat. Kraven hunts his victims thanks to his arsenal of weapons and superhuman qualities, including increased strength, speed, agility, endurance, and immortality.
J.C. Chandor is the director of Kraven the Hunter, and Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are in charge of producing. Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk wrote the film’s screenplay.
That Gabby’s Take
After the failure of Morbius, I honestly don’t know if Kraven the Hunter will work. But seeing the trailer did give me some hope that this film would. In the meantime, I am still going to be skeptical.
