Nintendo Direct Recap: A Look Back at the Biggest Announcements

Nintendo delivered a Nintendo Direct that focused on games that are coming to the Switch in the winter and 2024. With indies, third party, and Nintendo’s own titles filling the 40 minutes of announcements, there were a lot of surprises and some unexpected announcements. With that, let’s go over what was shown in the show.

Trombone Champ

You can’t have a Nintendo Direct without one wacky and odd game to be premiered and believe me, they didn’t disappoint. Trombone Champ is a game where you play a trombone and try to match the music on screen. Up to four player can play and it’s, well, let’s just say it’s an “entertaining” game at that. Trombone Champ releases today.

Wargroove 2

Wargroove 2 introduces a new land to explore and introduces fights in the sky, land, and sea. With it being a console exclusive, Wargroove 2 will release on October 5th.

Battle Crush

Battle in 4 Player melee arean fighting to become number one. Battle Crush will have a beta test on October 23rd to the 30th with the game releasing in 2024.

Wartales

Search vast lands and fight in strategic battles while protecting the townspeople with up to four players to live and see another day. Wartales is a timed-console exclusive releasing today.

Eastward: Octopia

Eastward: Octopia is new DLC for Eastward where you help the people of Octopia build their town. If you don’t have the game Eastward, you can still purchase the DLC as a stand alone title. Eastward: Octopia releases this holiday season.

Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes

Among Us: The Fungle

Horizon Chase 2

Epic Games bring more racing fun with Horizon Chase 2, releasing today.

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle

Konami brings a new rhythm game to Switch with tracks from the Dance Dance Revolution series and other Konami series. Super Castle Rhythm Castle releases on November 14th.

Spy x Anya: Operation Memories

From the anime Spy x Family, take Anya on an adventure and through her school days by playing mini-games and bring joy to others. Spy x Anya: Operation Memories releases in 2o24.

SaGa Emerald Beyond

The SaGa series return with a new entry and new characters and stories. Check out the trailer to learn more. SaGa Emerald Beyond releases in 2024.

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered

The original Tomb Raider games are back and finally appearing on a Nintendo platform. Check out the trailer to see it in action. Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered releases February 14, 2024.

Contra: Operation Galuga

Konami and Wayforward team up again for a another new Contra game and it returns to it glorious 2D roots as this is a retelling of the first Contra game. Contra: Operation Galuga releases in 2024.

Unicorn Overlord

VanillaWare is back with a new strategy tactics game with beautiful artwork and detailed characters they are known for. Unicorn Overlord releases on March 8th, 2024.

Bandle Tale: A League Of Legend Store

A new sim game from the League Of Legends series.

Song Of Nunu: A League Of Legends Story

A 3D platformer from the League Of Legends series.

Nintendo itself brought some updates and a surprise announcement to the Direct also. It announced that their Nintendo Muesum in Japan will open in March 2024 and it showed off three Amiibo with dates. Zelda and Ganondorf Amiibo from The Legend of Zelda are releasing on November 3rd. Noah and Mio from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be a 2-pack bundle that will release on January 19. Sora from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Kingdom Hearts will release sometime in 2024. With that, let’s check out the games they showed.

Splatoon 3: Side Order

A new campaign comes to Splatoon 3 with new gameplay functions and levels. Side Order releases in Spring 2024.

Mario Vs. Donkey Kong

The DS classic returns in the remake of the first Mario Vs. Donkey Kong. With new graphics, game play, and 2 player local co-op, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong will release on February 16th, 2024.

Super Mario RPG

Another Code: Recollection

Formally known as Trace Memory for the Nintendo Direct, Another Code Recollection combine the first game and the second game that never released in North America. Another Code: Recollection releases on January 19th.

Princess Peach Showtime

It’s showtime! Princess Peach returns in her own game and she must save the theater and shows before it all gets cancelled…FOREVER. Change in different costumes to handle different areas and obstacles that are in your way. Princess Peach Showtime releases on March 24, 2024.

Detective Pikachu Returns

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

F-Zero 99

As the final reveal of the direct, who would’ve guess that one of the iconic games for the Nintendo GameCube would make its grand return! Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has been requested and dreamed by many to come to a modern console and Nintendo plans to deliver in 2024.
