Well, the 2023 MLB regular season is wrapping up in about a week so we as fans obviously will take our attention to…

Who’s going to be on the cover of the next MLB The Show? What else would we possibly care about??

In all seriousness, the San Diego Studio franchise is video game gold for all the baseball gamers out there. Since the company opened up its policy in 2021 and allowed the game to be available on all consoles, its popularity skyrocketed, and now it’s one of the biggest sports games on the market.

Since then, people have loved to speculate what athlete will grace the cover of the newest edition of their favorite video game. The only thing is, there’s no clear-cut answer this year. The MLB is filled with great options to be the face of the franchise, which makes it so hard to pick just one player.

This leads to the discussion, who deserves to be on the cover of MLB The Show 24? We have a few ideas.

Ken Griffey Jr.

Sports games love to have some creativity in their covers so why not have the legendary #24-wearing star representing The Show 24? The basketball series 2K is doing it this year with Kobe Bryant so it’s been done before and Ken Griffey certainly would be deserving of it. The only potential knock was he previously was on a cover for MLB The Show 17, so they may want to avoid repetition.

Blake Snell

In this case, San Diego Studio picks the best player on the San Diego Padres. This wouldn’t be a nepotism pick though, as Snell is seemingly a lock for the NL Cy Young award and definitely has the numbers to back up his cover application. Also, his nickname, “Snellzilla”, could open the door to some great monster cards or other bigger-than-life game modes.

Ronald Acuna Jr.

This one just feels right you know? The Atlanta Braves outfielder checks all the boxes for a cover athlete. He’s got the talent, flashiness, and relevance to be a great candidate. Throw in that he’s the front-runner for the NL MVP award and it just seems like a great idea to have an MVP as the face of MLB The Show 24.
