In Version 4.5 of Genshin Impact, HoYoverse introduced the new wish banner, Chronicled Wish which reran standard and limited five-star characters and weapons that hadn’t appeared on a banner in a while.
There wasn’t any mention of this wish banner in the 4.6 livestream, and with the release of 4.6, still no word. HoYoverse mentioned that they would be releasing this banner intermittently, so the banner not appearing right away is no surprise. However, it does call to question how often the banner will appear and what characters will appear.
The game’s update for 4.5 was not the most action-packed. Although there was the new release of Chiori in 4.5, the other five-star limited banners were all reruns. I feel that HoYoverse purposefully input the Chronicled Wish Banner during this time to better sales and offer players more enticing character reruns.
It’s likely that if Genshin Impact has an update that is planned to be much slower and pertain less to the main story, they will run another Chronicled Wish Banner.
As a hardcore Diluc fan, I was excited over this banner as a way to obtain more constellations for my Diluc. However, I was hoping to see Tighnari on the banner because he is one of the standard five-star characters I have yet to obtain.
However, I have a theory that may explain how they pick and choose which characters they’re running. The characters highlighted in the first banner were all characters from Mondstadt (Jean, Diluc, Klee, Eula, Albedo, and Mona). Although it’s true that Mondstadt characters have not had as much of a focus during reruns, it is strange that all the characters during this Chronicled Wish Banner were from the same region.
What I feel will happen in the next banner is that all the available characters will be from Liyue. The banner following that will likely star Inazuma characters, and so on, so forth. The Chronicled Wish Banner is highlighting older characters from the game who struggle to get reruns while in the limelight of new characters from the most recent region.
The next Chronicled Wish Banner is likely to reappear within the coming updates. Players are still waiting for a chapter pertaining to Khaenri’ah’s story, so likely not during the next or upcoming update. However, usually the patch before the newest nation is more relaxed event/story-wise. Whichever patch that ends up being (whether 4.8 or 4.9), that is likely when Genshin Impact may include its next Chronicled Wish Banner. Or, it may even push it off until after the release of Natlan.
The next Chronicled Wish Banner is still most likely to happen during the time when Fontaine’s story ends and Natlan’s begins. What are your thoughts on the Chronicled Wish Banner?
