Genshin Impact recently released their 5.0 livestream starring the reveal of Natlan. Not only is it their release of version 5.0 but the update will also celebrate the fourth year anniversary of the game! It even starred a little trivia game during its premiere for all those who joined the livestream, hosted by the characters’ voice actors. The livestream also featured a concert to introduce Natlan’s music to players.
There were quite a few reveals and topics the developers announced during the stream.
Livestream Chapters:
Redemption Codes
With this livestream, the developers announced three redemption codes that will grant primogems and other rewards to players. These codes will expire August 17 at 12 AM (UTC-4).

Pyro Traveler

Firstly, Natlan (at least from the start) will not feature Pyro traveler. The developers explained that when the traveler touches Natlan’s Statue of Seven, they are blocked from receiving the pyro blessing for some unknown reason. Players are sure to expect to learn about why in the coming Archon quests.
Web Event
The 5.0 update will also feature a new web event. The coming of Natlan introduces a new set of forgeable four-star weapons. This web event will freely grant players three of these weapons by playing it.
New Characters and Banners

Of course, a new nation means new playable characters. The stream first introduced Kachina. She is a Geo four-star character who uses a polearm.
When Kachina uses her Elemental Skill, she summons Turbo Twirly which is like a screwdriver mount. Kachina will either ride this mount or have it fight alongside her. This summon will jump and release plunging attacks that attack nearby enemies. When the skill is held or used while fighting alongside her, she will ride it instead giving Kachina the ability to move and climb around quickly.
In fact, players will receive her for free after completing the first act of Natlan’s Archon Quest.

Following Kachina, players are introduced to Mualani. Mualani is a five-star Hydro catalyst user.
When Mualani uses her Elemental Skill, she will mount her Sharky Surfboard in battle. This shark will bite enemies and mark them when it comes in contact with them. This mark grants her a special effect. When Sharky Surfboard bites marked enemies, it deals more damage and fires off Shark MIssiles. Furthermore, Sharky Surfboard will allow players to move on water and liquid Phlogiston while increasing her movement speed and interruption resistance.

The developers also announced the release of Kinich, a five-star Dendro character who uses a claymore.
Kinich will fire a grappling hook at nearby enemies or objects, making him able to swing in mid-air and move quickly. He can expend Phlogiston mid-air for an extra swing making him a great traveling companion. When hooked onto an opponent, Kinich performs an attack and fires Loop Shots to gain Nightsoul points. Entering an enemy’s blind spot in this mode will grant him more Nightsoul points. When these points are maxed out, he can unleash Scalespiker Cannon to deal greater damage.
These characters will feature in the coming banners for 5.0. The first half of 5.0 will feature Mulani for the limited five-star alongside Kazuha. It will also have a rate up for Kachina on this banner. The second-half of the wish banner will feature Kinich alongside Raiden.
Quality of Life and Optimizations
Players also received many quality of life updates as well as surprising rewards to come in version 5.0 of Genshin Impact.
In the coming update, when players complete Act I of the Archon Quest in Natlan during the update, they will receive 500 primogems. The developers have confirmed that this is a limited reward but one that will repeat in the next acts of the coming updates.
For the story quests completed in the corresponding version updates (Mualani and Kinich in 5.0), they will also receive primogems as well as the level up materials for said characters. Players will receive enough materials to level up the characters to level 60 for free, simply by doing their character quests.
In order to help newer players in getting these rewards, the developers have decided to allow a “Quick Start” for the Natlan Archon Quest. Once players have completed the Liyue Archon Quest and reached Adventure Level 28, they will be able to unlock and play through the Natlan Archon Quest. This makes them eligible to gain the 500 primogem reward mentioned earlier.

For returning players, the developers of Genshin Impact have improved Stellar Reunion. Alongside the usual rewards, they can also gain up to ten intertwined fates as extra rewards.
Aside from rewards, the system has had several optimizations and changes that will come in version 5.0.
Firstly, the game will be increasing the drop rates for specific mobs. This will make it easier for players to farm for materials.
Furthermore, the world level is able to be increased to Level 9. Each ascension of the world level means that the drop rates are increased and grants player higher rarity items. This effect will stack on top of the increased drop rates coming to version 5.0.
Players can also expect a new feature for farming local specialities. All characters require a local specialty to ascend their levels. When travelers go to their inventory, there will be a “Found in the Wild” option. This option will now mark the locations of these specialities on the overworld map. It will also count the number of these items in that location.

The battle pass itself will also be updated in version 5.0. A large complaint with the battle pass was that the talent books it offered only came from the earlier regions. However, players will now be able to pick which nation’s talent books they want to focus on for the battle pass. Furthermore, they will be able to pick three specific rewards they want from four. They can choose to focus on mora, weapon enhancement material, character exp books, or artifact exp bottes.
The stamina system will also be updated. In the current version of the game, in order to reach max stamina, players need to completely upgrade the Statue of Seven in Mondstadt and Liyue. Genshin Impact’s version 5.0 will now allow players to upgrade their stamina by leveling any Statue of Seven. Players can instead steadily increase their stamina while exploring all the different nations.
Imaginarium Theater will also receive an update. The developers have redesigned the wonderous boons. A huge complaint of this game mode was the fact that the boons didn’t really make sense. It was difficult for players to pick specific boons when they couldn’t understand the buffs or know what elements it was supposed to be supporting. Players will now be able to see what character will benefit from the wondrous boon right on the selection page. Furthermore, the Imaginarium Theater will have a higher difficulty version called Visionary Mode. This mode will make it more difficult and have increased rewards.
Artifact Updates

Artifacts are receiving two major updates. The previous artifact salvage option only granted players mora. For many players who struggle to maintain builds for their characters, sacrificing potential pieces for mora was not worth the risk. However, these cannon fodder artifacts can now be turned into artifact exp. This will make it easier for players to manage their artifact inventory. Instead of tons of low-rarity artifacts taking up inventory space, players can turn them into artifact experience bottles that only take a few slots of space.
Artifacts will also introduce Sanctifying Elixirs. These elixirs will allow players to choose the specific artifacts and main stats. Alongside granting them this choice, players can also choose two substats to guarantee on the artifact. This means that players can have an on-set elemental damage goblet with two substats of Critical Rate and Critical Damage! It will grant a huge boon for players who struggle with farming for artifacts. These elixirs will be available through exploring Natlan, artifact extraction, and the battle pass’s Gnostic Hymn.
Wish Banner Updates

The wish system will also receive several updates in the coming version. When players are dealing with a 50/50 chance to receive a five-star character, there is a chance of encountering Capturing Radiance. This comes with its own unique animation and grants an increased chance of receiving the limited five-star. This chance won’t affect the overall probability of five-star characters. If the Capturing Radiance fails, players will still have the guaranteed five-star in the next 90 pulls instead of having to face another 50/50.
The weapon banner also received an update. Instead of the Epitomized Path needing two fate points to guarantee a five-star weapon, it only requires one now. There is a 75% chance of receiving the limited five-star weapon which splits into an even 50/50 since there are two limited weapons that run alongside each other. If players lose this chance, that means they are guaranteed the limited weapon they want in the next 90 pulls.
Anniversary Rewards

Genshin Impact will be celebrating its four-year anniversary this coming 5.0 patch. Players will be receiving the usual rewards that come with every anniversary. They will get ten Intertwined Fates to pull on the banners as well as 1600 primogems via the mail which is another ten pull on a banner. Players will get a new pet gadget as well as an explosive toy to mess around with. The top-up bonus will also be reset, so all players who decide to buy currency can receive the bonus again to save money.
But, this anniversary is a little special. With the new Sanctifying Elixir mechanic, the developers will also give players a free elixir to freely use how they want during the anniversary.

Additionally, players will be able to select one free five-star character from the standard banner. Players can pick any standard character they want to join their team whether as a new character or as a constellation. Furthermore, this is not a one-time reward. Instead, players will be able to make this choice once every year, likely during the anniversary. Genshin Impact has been continuously adding new characters to the standard roster, so there will be a larger selection for players to pick for their free five-star character.
Conclusion
Genshin Impact has so much coming in its version 5.0 update. New characters, a new nation, a free five-star. This has to be one of, if not, the best update the game has seen. It truly displayed how much the developers love their game and their players.
