One demo that surprised me at PAX West 2024 was SAEKO: Giantess Dating Sim at the Pheonix and HYPER REAL booth. This indie survival horror with visual novel gameplay filled me with both laughter and goosebumps!
Firstly, the booth showcased several indies from Japanese devs, and a banner advertised the Tokyo Indie Games Summit for March 2025. This is a new initiative that began in 2023 and can be “a place where various talents of indie game creators can gather together and be inspired to pursue their goal”.
After chatting with some representatives, I settled in at their computer to launch the titillating SAEKO: Giantess Dating Sim. The first thing that stood out was the graphics–it’s a memorable pixel-art in a hand-drawn style. Secondly, the interesting turn of events in the story captivated me from the start.
SAEKO: Giantess Dating Sim is not your typical “dating sim”. There are elements of danger, and the story takes a gruesome turn. When the demo ended, the game left me hungry for more. I suspect a twist as Saeko isn’t a giantess; in fact, you’re tiny. The mystery then is…how did you get like that? How did the drawer full of other people get this small as well? What’s really going on here?
SAEKO: Giantess Dating Sim is set to release sometime later this year. Check out the trailer:
