Latest Trailer Shows New Pokémon and More For Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon fans were given a nice treat today in the form of a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The trailer not only gave a better view of features we already knew, such as Terastalizing, but also gave us a view of a new Pokémon, new character, and tons of additional features we’ll see in the game.

New Pokémon

We only got one new Pokémon from today’s trailer in the form of Farigiraf, an evolved form of Girafarig. This new form is still Normal/Psychic, and seems to be a more unified form of Girafarig’s dual personality.

New Character

Mela, Boss of Team Star’s Fire Crew, is one of your many opponent’s you’ll face during your adventure. Team Star is looking to have multiple crews, so Mela probably won’t be the only Team Star member you’ll be facing off against.

New Features

We’ve already learned a good amount of Terastalizing. The trailer confirms that all 18 Pokémon types will be available for Terastalizing, as well as a new move called Tera Blast which automatically changes to the Pokémon’s Tera Type, which will surely come in hand when a Pokémon may not have it’s own move of a particular type.

Scarlet and Violet will also be introducing the TM Machine, a machine that lets you turn items you’ve found in the wild into Technical Machines, or TMs, for your Pokémon to learn! We’re not sure yet if these TMs are like those found in Sword and Shield, alongside the Technical Records (TRs) that break after one use.

Similar to Pokémon Camp in Sword and Shield, Scarlet and Violet introduced Pokémon Picnics, where you can play or clean up your Pokémon. One unique thing about these Picnics, however, is that trainers may occasionally find Pokémon eggs. Whether these can be new Pokémon or is the new breeding mechanic is yet to be announced. Oh, and you can also make sandwiches with your Pokémon.
