Dramatic Labs Sets Release Date for Star Trek: Resurgence

Star Trek: Resurgence is set to release May 23. Dramatic Labs, a team made up of former Telltale Games staff, has developed Star Trek: Resurgence as a conscious restoration of ’90s Star Trek ethos and aesthetic. Not only are the warm, bright lights and carpets back–there is a focus on diplomacy and problem-solving.

Like the team’s previous games, Star Trek: Resurgence is a choice-based adventure game. As with The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, or The Wolf Among Us, there is an emphasis on characters and conversation choices, with occasional quick time events (QTEs). It’s the marriage of a movie game and a Choose Your Own Adventure paperback.

As Dramatic Labs tweeted with this announcement, “Prepare to make your mark on the galaxy in our interactive narrative adventure game — where you’re at the heart of an original Star Trek story, and the fate of your crew comes down to your choices!”

Set shortly after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation (or, judging by the uniforms, early in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Ambassador Spock embarks on a mission to sooth a tense diplomatic situation that could spiral out of control at any time. Players take control of two different members of Starfleet on board the U.S.S. Resolute.

The principal cast includes Josh Keaton, Krizia Jajos, Elias Toufexis, and Piotr Michael. Many of them are long-time voice actors with some previously appearing in the Star Trek franchise as other characters.

Upon launch, Star Trek: Resurgence will be exclusively available on Epic Game Store.
