With Wuthering Waves‘ release on May 22 rapidly approaching, it’s about time to consider pre-registering for the game. At the moment, it has reached its 20 million pre-registration goal with 24.9 million people already signed up.
The story of Wuthering Waves starts with the player choosing their Rover, with a male and female option. This option will set which Rover is visible in cutscenes and able to be used by the player. It follows the selected Rover in recovering their memories as they explore the world of Solaris-3. As the player continues the story, they learn about the Lament. The Lament is a catastrophe that wiped out humanity, nearly to extinction, that still remains a mystery. As most of the story still hasn’t been announced, players will need to play the game to learn more.

There are a few reasons why you should consider pre-registering for Wuthering Waves.
One reason is that the game is open world, allowing players to complete various side quests and explore to gain more Astrites to pull for characters or weapons. As players explore, they can also defeat various creatures and collect their Echoes. Echoes allow the player to summon the defeated creature and use their abilities. Each Echo has a unique ability that can aid players in their journey.
The second has to do with how characters move in game. Like most open-world games, players are able to traverse the environment within the limitation of a stamina bar. Players are able to run, jump, climb, and glide. However, unlike other open-world gacha games, there is also the ability to wall run. This isn’t a new feature in open-world games, but it is somewhat new to gacha. In addition to the wall run, there is also a much smoother character switching mechanic. While switching in combat, characters will switch while attacking.
Additionally, the banners in Wuthering Waves and rewards seem to be a lot more generous than some other gacha games. In gacha games, banners run on a pity system. How the pity works depends on the game itself but, in general, there is a soft pity and hard pity. Hard pity is when a player is guaranteed to get the limited 5-star weapon or character on a banner. In Wuthering Waves hard pity is currently reached at 80 summons, but there is a chance to get the advertised character or weapon on each summon.
For the weapon banner, players are guaranteed the advertised limited weapon upon reaching the required 80 summons if they don’t manage to summon the limited weapon beforehand. For the character banner, it runs on a 50/50. A 50/50 is where there is a 50% chance for players to get the advertised character upon summoning a five star, but the advertised character will be guaranteed after a loss once they manage to summon another five star.
Wuthering Waves seems to be a game to watch out for, with the chance to become one of the top open world gacha games. To pre-register, visit the official website for Wuthering Waves.
